HM Revenue & Customs is warning taxpayers to be vigilant following reports that thieves are making phone calls pretending to be the taxman.

Victims risk having their bank accounts emptied and their personal details sold on to other organised criminal gangs.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify after a woman was sexually assaulted in Manchester city centre.
At about 3am on 11 August 2010, the victim, a 31-year-old woman, was in Picadilly Gardens, when an unknown offender sexually assaulted her while performing a sex act.
